Britannia Rules at House & Garden
Americans, like décor enthusiasts the world over, have long been fascinated with British interiors. In its early days at the turn of the century, says Editor-in-Chief Dominique Browning, the magazine catered to an audience that looked across the Atlantic for design leadership. But as the decades went by, House & Garden began to chronicle an emerging American style; this country honed its own distinctive vision of design for the well-lived life and had the self-confidence to both develop its own vernacular and borrow from the rest of the world as well.
Today, were riding the crest of a new wave of global design - one that is marked by an exchange of ideas across the Atlantic. American designers are finding a devoted market of clients for their work, and British designers - and fabric houses - are finding enthusiastic customers for theirs.
House & Garden is pleased to showcase this new exchange in the
D & D Buildings Salute to British Design. The magazine shares the opening day with its sister publication from across the pond, British House & Garden. On the morning of October 5th, the festivities will open with a keynote address by British House & Garden Editor-in-Chief Susan Crewe, Influences in British Interior Design followed by a panel discussion. Throughout the day, U.S. House & Garden editors will be speaking at several showrooms. U.S House & Garden will also co-sponsor, with the British Consulate, a Salute to British Design. U.S. House & Garden and British House & Garden look forward to seeing you during the D&D Buildings Fall Market Week. |
