Albert Hadley Honored

On February 4, Charles S. Cohen, President of the D&D Building, hosted an exclusive dinner in honor of the renowned American interior designer Albert Hadley. The evening benefited the Albert Hadley Endowed Scholarship Fund at New York School of Interior Design (NYSID).

The dinner—held at one of Mr. Hadley’s “favorite spots,” the Astra Café—was preceded by a cocktail reception at The Gallery of New York School of Interior Design, where the exhibition “ALBERT HADLEY: Drawings and the Design Process,” was on view.

Mario Buatta, Bunny Williams, David Anthony Easton and Mariette Himes Gomez joined over 80 other guests in toasting Mr. Hadley, who responded by saying, “What you have seen in my exhibition is, in a way, my diary—not in words, but rather in ‘line and color’. Each scribble has a story. I feel extremely fortunate and happy to have had the people, the friendships, support and trust that have filled my diary to the fullest. Thank you for your interest, your friendship, and your support of the New York School of Interior Design.”

In 2002, Mr. Hadley and his friends established the Albert Hadley Endowed Scholarship fund for NYSID to help the college’s BFA students fulfill their dreams of becoming interior design professionals. Dinner guests and others raised an additional $45, 000 on this occasion to bring the fund to almost $100, 000 as a perpetual tribute to this great American designer
